In a competitive job market, a degree on its own is not enough to make you stand out to employers. They'll be interested in the skills you’ve developed and experience you’ve gained. Gaining experience while you study helps you develop these skills and figure out what you want to do next.

A basic online search for work experience brings up lots of results for full-time summer internships, or year-long placements – however, neither of these options are usually aimed at postgraduate students.
